Marketing America Docuseries
A two-week, multi-location docuseries following a UK marketing executive entering the US market. Directed and shot by Dylan Baxter in Atlanta for Passionfruit.
The Brief
Passionfruit and Henry Hayes wanted to document a UK marketing executive's push into the US market as a docuseries. The story played out in Atlanta, across multiple locations, so they needed a director and camera operator on the ground for the full shoot.
The Approach
A documentary only works if the people in it stay relaxed and the crew can keep up with them. We kept the setup light: one director who is also the camera operator, a gimbal for moving shots, and fast lenses that hold up across different locations and lighting.
Capturing in 6K open gate left room to reframe in the edit, which helps when the same shoot has to feed both a long-form series and shorter social cuts.
Production
- Two weeks on location. A multi-location shoot across Atlanta, directed and shot by Dylan Baxter.
- Camera. Panasonic Lumix GH7 shooting 6K open gate.
- Lenses. Sigma 18-35mm and 50-100mm f/1.8.
- Movement. DJI RS3 gimbal for handheld, moving coverage.
What We Delivered
The footage for the series, shot and organized for the editing team of Jack Welham and Henry Hayes. The series is currently in post-production.
The shoot also produced standalone social videos, including a Spider-Man parody for LinkedIn. See the spin-off content below.
Social Videos From the Same Shoot
Filming a series creates extra material. Two short videos came out of the Marketing America shoot.
